Confirmation is a sacrament of initiation and as such, is intimately related to Baptism and the Eucharist. It celebrates the presence of the Spirit within them and intensifies His gifts and their response. It increases those preparing for the sacrament in the areas of faith, love, and courage. It empowers them to work for God's kingdom.
The Confirmation preparation program at Nativity is open to seventh grade students at the Nativity school and throughout the community, or students beyond seventh grade who have yet to be confirmed. Classes begin in the fall and continue throughout the year, culminating in the Sacrament of Confirmation the following fall (of their eighth grade year, for most students). This preparation program is a combined effort of Nativity School, the Nativity Faith Formation Program and our Pastor and Parochial Vicar.
Catechesis for this sacrament takes place within the parish community which has an obligation to participate in the catechetical preparation of those to be confirmed. Parents and sponsors are asked to be intimately involved in catechesis for Confirmation. This involvement will renew and strengthen their own faith.
